Swimming Success

One last summer activity that we finished up in August was swimming lessons. We felt like Madelyn needed more exposure to the water and to learn the basics. So we signed her up at Matt's Y and on the first day found out our instructor was a boy. Uh oh! Fortunately, it only took her a few minutes to warm up to him and the rest of the kiddos. She learned how to scoop with her arms, kick with her legs, and lots more!

After each class the isntructor took each child down the slide. That was a huge hit for Madelyn. We'll definitely continue this winter with another session!

We have a Preschooler!

Our "not so little one" on her first day of school!

I can barely believe that she is in real school now! We are so excited, especially her. I took her to her open house last week and she was her normal shy self. I mingled around the classroom talking to the teacher, parents, and school nurse with her pretty much glued to my side for half an hour. She was definitely impressed with the elaborate house center and all the baby doll items!

So on the morning of the her first day we served up blueberry eggo waffles and milk, fixed her hair up in braided ponytails, and put on her new dress. Off she went to daycare for the morning and then Matt picked her up and took her to school. She was excited! At one point she told him that she had been waiting to get homework since she was two. We found out that her preschool teacher also went to the same daycare she goes to and that makes her feel special.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for you Sugar!

Things that make you go hmmm...

Cute dog right dog sitting on our deck right? Right. But you're thinking that's not the Eaves' dog. And your right. We also don't know who's dog it is. But it jumped our fence three times over the weekend. It was friendly but since we have our own pets and didn't want to take any chances with Madelyn we all went inside. Then there was another strange dog sitting our our front porch. So I went ahead and called the non-emergency police number to report it and they said they would send an officer out to check it out. They took my phone number and address. Then about ten minutes later a man (not officer) came to our house looking for his dogs and picked them up. He was nice and they all left. But a police officer never showed up. It would appear that they knew there were missing dogs, called their owner, and sent him to our house. That makes me a titch uncomfortable that they sent a strange man to my house. And they never followed up on it, ever. Am I being too uptight about this or not? What do you think?

Garden Woes

As if a zillion days straight of 100 degree heat wasn't enough, now I'm dealing with these enormous tomato worms! I killed, okay maybe I made my muscular husband kill them. Them?? Oh yes, them. FOUR of them!! They treated my garden like an all you can eat buffet while I wasn't looking. But, I got 'em in the end and I'm taking back what's left of my garden!

Tee Ball Finale!

The tee-ball season started out rough but ended on a high note! The first game didn't go well, for a refresher click HERE, and then over the next few games it just got worse. We actually left during the middle of one game because she wouldn't participate at all! Mommy decided it was time to get tougher. I needed better bribe! What does this little girl want after vising Disney World? A Rapunzel doll of course. So I set the seen for the bribe the afternoon before the game. She had to stand by herself and smile for team and individual pictures that evening and she had to participate fully without Matt or I having to even get on the field. Once I said Rapunzel, she was in. But this Mommy wasn't so sure what would happen when we actually got to the game! Check it out-

Waiting in the on deck circle by herself!

Hey batter, batter by herself!

Swing, by herself!

Running to first base, by herself!

Fielding the ball, by herself!

f.y.i. the red team didn't have enough players so some of our team helped field too

She did amazing!! It was like a different kiddo out there. She did everything I asked and loved it. It was so wonderful to watch our little one finally step out of her shell, make friends, and be successful! And it just goes to show it's all about the power of the bribe!
