After shopping for flowers last weekend we were reminded of how important safety really is.
Madelyn: (in a serious tone) "Daddy put your seatbelt on now! You aren't safe, it's dangerous. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?"
Oops, I guess this means I should change up some of my phrases. But at least I know she's listening!
Then she proceeded to rattle off all the rules she knows. So we heard, "We shouldn't hit, we shouldn't push, we should be nice to our friends, we should be nice to Fenway..."

Harassment
Although it is hard to remember what we did in our spare time before Madelyn was born it is probably even harder for our pets to remember what their life was like. The lazy days of lounging anywhere they felt like for countless hours during the day are gone!!! I have always thought that each stage of Madelyn's life has been a huge change for us but also a drastic change for them. From the initial, "What is the tiny little thing that smells weird, cries, and has lots of soft stuff to sleep in." To the, "Oh no, it can move, grab fur, and shriek endlessly." And finally, "Why does she run after me, lay down ON TOP of me, and try to force her necklaces/bracelets around my neck, doesn't she understand I BITE?" I'm sure one day our animals will realize she loves them, but for now they just run and hide as soon as they see her thundering towards them.

Spring Break
I know spring break was a few weeks ago but I'm just now catching up. Our family spent most of the month of March being sick, I mean SICK!!! Trust me, you don't want to know the details. Anyway, one of the very few things that we enjoyed over spring break was the new swing set Matt and some friends built. We were hoping that it would all be finished before the big birthday but the weather was our enemy. Rain delays held us up during the construction of the swing set then snow didn't allow us to enjoy playing on it on her birthday. Oh well, Madelyn sure loves it now!! Here are a few pictures of the construction of it.

Meeting of the minds

Rob and Jason are supervising (I think)
