No Soliciting!

Please excuse me while I rant!

Over spring break we drove to Larned so that my grandparents were able to meet Cecilia and celebrate Madelyn's sixth birthday with us (pictures of all the fun coming soon :) On our drive home we made plans to watch some March Madness Basketball with friends so I knew upon arriving at home that I had two hours to unpacked and "set up camp" at home, start a mountain of laundry, nurse a baby, repack the diaper bag, get everyone ready to leave the house, whip up something fabulous to eat so that we didn't go there empty handed, and I wanted to squeeze in a quick workout.  I know - it already sounds non-realistic!  Then you throw in a few ridiculous visits from solicitors and you get one cranky Mommy!  Here's what happened:

The doorbell rings while Matt is stepping out of the shower which means the dog goes crazy, Madelyn jumps around the house yelling someones at the door which startles Cecilia and makes her cry.  I pick her up, hurdle over Madelyn to open the door and find 3, yep 3 men, with scripts in hand ready to sell me crap!  My face ISN'T the picture of, "Hello, welcome to my home, what can I do for you!"  Instantly one of the guys starts fumbling with his script and stumbling over the words.  Words I cannot hear because I am focused on the baby over my shoulder in an open door while it's too cold outside for her, the dog I'm kicking because she is half way out the door trying to lick these three idiots to death, and Madelyn yelling at the dog to get back so she can see.  In my mind I'm thinking, "Where is you father!"  Eventually they tell me they are from AT&T and that they have just spoken to my neighbors, Kip and Jean.  To which I stop them and tell them Kip and Jean no longer live there, and their house is now abandoned.  Whoops!!  They just stare at me.  Then continue the script.  After a few seconds I stop them, tell them I already have AT&T and that I have been happy with the service.  Then I shut the door, I didn't wait to hear their response, just shut them out.  I take a few deep breathes, retell the story to Matt and start on my unrealistic to-do list.  Until...

Ten minutes later, the doorbell rings again.  Same story, crazy dog, crazy kid, crying baby.  When I open the door this time and see the same 3 men standing there I was a little surpised and then instantly peeved.  So I said, "Yeesss?" in a very long drawn out way.  To which the middle guy says, "Oh."   (later this small two letter word, oh, has me wondering if he saw the steam coming from my ears).   The last guy says you are the one that already has AT&T, right?"   I said yes and they apologized.  I took this golden opportunity to tell them I didn't appreciate their multiple interruptions and that they had woken my baby twice.  Then I shut the door on them, again.

Seriously, who do these companies hire to go door to door.  Get someone who can read a map and take notes.  And I'll get a no soliciting sign!  Thanks for listening.

Quote of the Week

Here's my favorite quote of this week:

Matt:  "Do you s'ppose there is a special place in heaven for men who live with all women?"

Can you hear me laughing hysterically?!

Shots!

Cecilia had her first round of shots recently :(  Three in her legs and one orally.  Mommy got to hold her down and listen to her scream.  She cried, and cried, and cried this really sad, Mommy that hurt cry.  It broke my heart so we spoiled her the rest of the day!

By the time we got home she was my happy baby again, yay!

Snow Days!

With all of the recent snow we were blessed with 4 snow days that even Matt got to enjoy!  I love a good snow to play and that's just what we did.
Snow paints (aka water + food coloring in squirt bottles = tons of fun)

And then there was the giant snowman we built (and by we I mean Matt and Madelyn, Cecilia and I were snug inside)

Our deck after the second storm, amazing!

Some of the neighbors came over to play in it, oh what fun.

It wouldn't be a snow day without hot cocoa!

And now that we've played in snow we are ready for spring at our house!

One Month Old!

Wow, how time flies!  I cannot believe on February 13th our little one was a month old.  This month was filled with lots of firsts and lots of fun.  We got to show her off to many friends and family visitors, she has been up to school and the Y to visit, to the doctors office, shopping, and lots more!  Our doctor's office doesn't do a one month check up so her stats from her 2 week appointment are 6 pounds 15 ounces and 20 inches long!  In the past several weeks I can see her checks and tummy fill out and loose that newborn look.

Here's a peek at her first bath.  Mommy bathing with her handy assistant, Madelyn!  Cecilia didn't mind the bath at first, then she started looking a little worried, and eventually started crying.  Madelyn was quick to sing to her and tell her it's okay.  Since this bath she doesn't cry anymore, just takes it all in.

Daddy makes it all better with a warm towel to cuddle in.

Her first bottle given to her by my assistant.  Cecilia tends to guzzle when she eats so it doesn't take long but can be a little messy.  Madelyn was thrilled to finally get to feed her!

Cuddling in the morning

First Valentine's Day from My Loves!!

And my favorite, first smiles.  These are priceless smiles.  Big, giggly, squishy cheek smiles that I could just eat up every minute!  She smiles as she eats, when we talk to her excitedly, and that moment just before she falls completely asleep.  Ahhh, baby love!

Daddy Daughter Dance 2013

This year's Daddy Daughter Dance was once again a hit!  I took Madelyn shopping to find the perfect dress.  This was a first for her, I usually just pick out and buy her clothes and she wears them (and sometimes complains about them).  With all the baby time lately we made this a shopping trip and special date.  I let her pick out tons of dresses to try on with the agreement that she could only pick out one dress!  Once in the dressing room, she loved every single dress, and the poofier and frillier the better!  After tons of twirling in front of the mirror like a little princess she settled on a very poofy, super sparkely dress below.  Perfect!

Ready to Shake a Leg

I'm sure her inner voice is saying, "Seriously Crazy Woman, I've had enough pictures!"

The Fab Four!
They all had a great time, Dads included, and they cannot wait until next year!
