Introducing...

Miss Cecilia Rae Eaves!!

This precious face entered our world on January 13th, 2013.

At my 39 week doctors appointment I told my dr. that I really didn't want to go back to work.  In my mind I was thinking bedrest for a few days but she was thinking inducing.  She suggested we see what appointments for induction that the hospital had available the following week and I went along with it thinking I would have some options.  But she came back in the room and said, "Okay, we are booked for 8 am on Monday morning."  I was a bit shocked but was ready to meet this baby.

However, this angel had plans of her own.  I started having contractions in the middle of the night on Friday and had them all day on Saturday but they weren't consistent enough.  By 4:00 pm on Saturday we decided to call the hospital.  My sister and her husband came to stay with Madelyn and we headed to the hospital.  Arriving at about 6:00 pm we got settled in there.  And she was born at 2:24 am on Sunday.

Since we didn't find out gender this was our big moment.  We came to the hospital prepared with two names.  Girl = Cecilia Rae and Boy = Landon Chase.  I was pretty certain this baby was a boy because the pregancy and delivery was a little different from Madelyn's.  On the car ride to the hospital we were listening to the radio and Simon and Garfunkel's song "Cecilia" came on the radio!  What a coincidence!!  That kept us wondering, is this a boy or a girl!  Since we are a bit competitive, we placed a little bet, Matt took girl and I took boy.

And when our dr. delivered the baby she asked Matt to tell us what we have.  He paused, looked, paused again, and then hollered out, "It's a girl!"  I spent the next hour in shock!  I really thought it was a boy.

She weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 18 inches long.
Bonding with Mommy

Our first family of four picture!  Do we look tired?  That could be because it is just after 6 am on Sunday.  My sister reported that Madelyn was so excited she had a really hard time sleeping on Friday night and as soon as they got the text that the baby had been born Madelyn insisted that they all come immediately to the hospital.  So they all got dressed and ready and headed in to see us at about 5:30 am!  She had really wanted a brother so she didn't have to share her girly toys so I was a bit worried about her reaction.  She has been over the moon in love with her!  Such a wonderful Big Sister!

Cuddling with Daddy!

Our stay at the hospital was short and sweet.  She was born early Sunday morning and we went home on Monday afternoon.  It did seem that we were there forever.  We were all ready to go home and snuggle together in our own house.  Since labor/deliver went smoothly, I was feeling excellent, and Cecilia was doing wonderfully my doctor gave us the okay to go home on Monday.
Our families came to stay with us for a few days and we've enjoyed visits from lots of friends and co-workers!  Cecilia has been such a sweet baby and we have all enjoyed snuggling with her!
