Weeks 24 and 25

24 Weeks

25 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights: (again from two weeks ago)
Symptoms: I am hungry and want to snack all the time.  (which shows when I hit the scales)
Cravings:  oranges, big juicy oranges, although I am trying to force myself to branch out to some other high fiber snacks that will keep me less hungry all the time
Total Weight Gain: 12 pounds but I feel like I've gained lots, lots more, and lots of people have told me lately that I'm really starting to pop out there
Movement:  this baby is sitting very low, almost feels like it's lodged within my pelvis
What I miss most: wine, we have been to several after hours events and wineries in the last few weeks and couldn't enjoy
Best moment of the weeks:  I went shopping for a few new maternity clothing pieces and Madelyn went with me.  I had been dreading taking her with me because I struggle enough right now gettting this new body dressed that I really didn't need her help.  However, I forgot that they put those "fake belly pillows"  in the dressing room.  They worked like a charm for entertaining her, we strapped that belly to her belly, her rear, her head, etc.  And by the time we were done were had both been giggling so hard our tummies hurt!  It was so fun to share that experience with her.

Heartbreaker!

Ahhh, how young little crushes start these days!!  There's this absolutely adorable little boy named Jackson who is just smitten with Madelyn.  And she could care less.  In fact, she can be down right rude to him because she doesn't like boys, no matter what!  Everyday I hear a story about Jackson trying to play with her, help her, etc. and it always ends with how she doesn't want to have anything to do with him, even at recess.  We've had several discussions about being polite and nice to him.  So here is the perfect example of how my daughter feels about boys:

Matt volunteered to go on the field trip to the pumpkin patch with Madelyn and her class so he recounted this story to me.  (Kuddos for my honey for wanting to enjoy this chaotic day with his daughter!!)

Madelyn and her bff Alexis were looking for the perfect pumpkin.  Alexis said she wanted one of the tiny little green ones so of course Madelyn wanted a tiny green one too!  And who overheard Princess Madelyn's request --  Mr. Jackson.  So the Prince, wanting to please the Princess searched the area high and low for the perfect little green pumpkin.  Upon finding it, he proudly ran over to the Princess and presented her with the her greatest desire.  And what did she do?  Princess Madelyn took one look at it, noticed it in no way met her alarmingly high expectations so she raised a disapproving eyebrow, and chucked it back into the field!!  The Prince was heartbroken.  In a single moment his expression went from triumph to defeat!

Matt, seeing this all go down, recognized the heartbreak so he quickly told Jackson how thoughtful his gesture had been and encouraged Madelyn to do this same.  We are feeling good that Madelyn doesn't like boys yet, there will be time for that in the future, but we also want to make sure that she is polite and kind to everyone, including adorable little boys!  For now we are just calling her "the heartbreaker"  behind her back of course!

Name Woes

We've had a girls name for quite a while and now were just debating on the spelling.  However, boys names are another story, same story as when I was pregnant with Madelyn.  We cannot find a name we both love.  Matt made an interesting suggestion yesterday morning, what do you think of this?

Matt:  (still in bed, while I just got out of the shower)  "Is there a famous actor named Russell Landon?"

Me:  "Not that I know of, why"

Matt:  "What do you think of the name Landon Russell?"

Me:  "Well Landon I like but not Russell?"

Matt:  "I just thought if we went on vacation we could call Madelyn by her middle name Audrey and Landon by his middle name Russell and we would have Audrey and Russ, just like the Griswalds."

Me:  (large sigh)  "Thank goodness our kids have me"

Moral to the story:  We are taking boy name suggestions if you have any!!

Apple Picking Time!!

A few weeks ago we ventured to The Cider Family Orchard a few miles from our house.  It is a cute little orchard that is easy to walk, has a pond to picnic beside, beehives to go visit, and a nice little country store to visit.  The day happened to be beautiful, awesome fall temperatures, pretty sunshine, and a fun family outing!

We were able to pick a variety of apples which has made awesome applesauce.

Madelyn loved the picking part but didn't take time to glance at any of the apples to make sure they weren't damaged we both found ourselves examining the apples she picked before they went into the bags.

Check out our goodies, we've made lots of fall treats so far!

And if the orchard wasn't enough they have a campfire to roast marshmellows at!  Can you tell it was a hit with Little Miss here!

They also have pears there so we are definately planning a visit back to the orchard to pick those!

5 Year Pictures (FINALLY)

Way back in June Matt had a conference in Excelsior Springs so Madelyn and I tagged along and hung out by the pool.  We stayed at The Elms which has beautiful open grounds and wooded areas so we had a little photo session.  And I am just now getting all the pictures edited and posted!  (way to go me!)
