Strawberry Pickin'

About a month ago we went to a strawberry patch in the area to pick fresh berries.  It was so much fun and the strawberries were the juicies, most flavorful we've ever had. 

They gave us a few instructions on how to pick the best berries and then we were off!

After we were done we had over 11 pounds of strawberries.  Madelyn and I had fun finding ways to use them.  We made dried some of them for quick snacks, made a pie, tried a fabulous recipe for strawberry shortcake bars, gave some to friends, and lots more.  This is something we hope to continue each year!

5 Months Old!

On June 13th, Cecilia turned five months, I know five whole months, doesn't seem possible! 

By the way I didn't pose this baby to hold up five fingers!!

Milestones:
-No official weight check this month but our scales say 13 pounds
-Enjoying summer break with Mommy and Big Sister
-Starting solids, so far we have tried some cereal, squash, and sweet potatoes, she likes all of them!
-Blowing bubbles and raspberries, and spitting
-Enjoyed our first mini vacation to visit friends

Around 4 months Cecilia had started to roll over in her bassinet at night but I was quite ready to give up the cute, cuddly baby sleeping beside me every night until I found this...

I had put her to bed around 9:30 and I went to the basement to relax.  I heard her start crying around 10:15 and found her all mixed up in her bassinet.  So I figured it was time to make the move to her actual crib.

Since school is out we have tried to get into a little routine for bedtime sanity.  Both girls go to sleep at 9:00.  CC is such a good sleeper that I usually put her down awake and goes to sleep herself until 6:30 in the morning.  I feed her again and she sleeps for another 3 hours!!!  I love this kid!!

We came home one evening after dinner with some friends and found this:

Yep, that's Fenway with her neck stuck in the mail slot of the pretty playhouse we have.  Wonder how that happened, hmmm...

Basketball

This year we decided to try out basketball!  Madelyn was super pumped to play and so was Matt!  I on the other hand was pretty certain that this would end up a total flop and boy was I wrong.  Madelyn loved going to practice and games.  She listens so well to her coaches including Matt and tries to do exactly what they say to do.  It was so fun to watch her grow and learn a sport we all love to watch.

She got pretty good at throwing the ball in to her teammates.

Our girl can hustle!!  The coaches would tell them which player on the other team to guard on defense and she would often find that person and race them down the floor.  Sometimes you'd even see a little "leap" step in that run (such a girl!)

Throw it to me!!  But they didn't, ever, throw it to the girls.  Not one single time did the boys on our team throw the ball to a girl on our team!  Pretty disappointing to the parents but the girls didn't seem to mind too much.  Next year we will probably look for an all girls team to play on.  We are just so glad she really enjoyed it.

Look who is eating solids!

At Cecilia's four month check up I mentioned to our doctor that she is very curious about what we were eating and drinking so she gave us the go ahead for starting solids, yay another milestone that is so much fun.  We started with rice cereal and she was very interested.  Her little tongue kept pushing it out for about a week but after that she gobbled it down with gusto!

More Easter Fun!

This year we did the Easter egg hunt at Matt's YMCA and it was a hit.  It was a little chilly but we will got several eggs.

CC was a little less impressed but darn she looked cute!

She actually begged to have her picture taken with the bunny.  I gave up years ago on any cute picture with Santa or any other character so I was astonished when she actually took this photo.

We usually celebrate Easter at home since neither of us get time off.  The bunny brought CC some cute sunglasses.

And then our hunt at home began!  Oh what fun!

Some really great friends invited us over to be part of their family and celebrate Easter so I made my mom's traditional pies.  Strawberry and lemon meringue, yummy yummy!  And they turned out beautiful!

While I was working on the pies it was actually warm enough to sunbath!!!
