I ran Brew to Brew again this year and again it was a stinking hot day for April! I had been pretty sick with pink eye, strep throat, and an ear infection prior to the run and really felt like bowing out but Matt kept pushing me to do it. So we did together and had a great time.
I took very few pictures but boy are there some stories. Here is our bus:
Once aboard we quickly discovered it is a party bus complete with stripper pole in the middle, oh yeah, running in style!
We also quickly discovered that the instructions for driving this bus were a little fishy! Like, the brakes are a bit "mushy" and when you push on them the bus pulls to the left. (no joke, those were the exact directions) Then there was the issue of not being able to get the heat turned off for a while and the bolt that flew out of the floor board. But hey, we made it!
But not before we had a small incident at the start line. As we were getting back on the bus to go meet our first runners we noticed an African American man in the car behind us rummaging around on the floor of the car which clearly looked like he was hot wiring the car (just a little racial profiling). There were eyes staring him down, and some fingers pointing. Eventually a couple of our runners got out and talked with him, he said he was changing and got out of the car bare footed. OOPS, so sorry!!
Then about halfway through the race we side swiped a parked car! Yep, took the mirror clean off! Then guy was super nice and said he would tell the insurance company he must of got hit in a parking lot. I'm sure he really didn't want the cops out looking through the car and seeing the large can of beer he had in his hand!
Oh well, we made it and finished in just over 7 hours! Until next year...
